Fishing is the best fun

Well I guess  many of us  would say , only if you catch something, Well, looky here,  last week . 










A young boy yesterday was heading down our street to the lake yesterday with his rods and bait box . This renewed enthusiasm comes after most successful Catch a Carp day  last Sunday . 

Harvesting nature may have been off the agenda for many new adherents to the conservation movement,  but its great to see more mature and fuller attitudes developing. The animals being harvested have had a full life, are mature and Carp in particular have become a huge pest, denying all other takers a piece of the cake.
In my many years , as a friend to many delinquents , I found their love of fishing truly delightful . I never have the patience for fishing, but many of these people know exactly how to catch a free feed ,
In the rare years of history when the lake is full and wave action didn't increase the muddiness ( very shallow,  wide fetch ) I used to fish with a young teenager who would in minutes collect the local bait and catch a redfin. If you know the way,  you can catch huge numbers of eels that way too .
Oh, for more creative ways that work and practical people to make them work . @conservationthatworks 
Our little men's group  ( Sunday )  are going to make fish soup soon now we know a way to do it with nuddy Carp.  

What a joy to realize the bounty of the earth . 
We still need to have people who know the precarious nature of life in such ephemeral places,
So lets  invest in their full learning of our complex environments and reject the simple politics of those who know how to solve complex challenges of earth use.
